UPDATED: Motorcyclist Is Killed, 5500 block E. PCH, In Collision With

(June 17, 2012, updated June 18) -- Following-up on a story reported last night (June 16) on LBReport.com, LBPD now has details on the fatal accident last night between a motorcycle and a pickup truck on PCH/
In a release, LBPD says that at about 8:07 p.m., its officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of E. PCH where a preliminary investigation indicates a motorcycle traveling northbound on PCH [release text] "at a high rate of speed" hit a pick-up truck heading southbound that was attempting to make a left turn. The motorcyclist, a 33 year old LB man, was transported to a hospital where he didn't survive (and hasn't been identified for now pending notification of his family). The driver of truck, a 66 year old LB man, "was interviewed, cited for making an unsafe left turn and release." LBPD says its investigation is ongoing and asks anyone who may have witnessed what took place or may have information to contact Accident Investigations Detective Dave Lauro at (562) 570-7322.
