(June 8, 11:10 p.m.) -- LBPD identifies the arrested suspect as Robert Campbell, 30, of Long Beach. He was booked on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. The LASD inmate website indicates a Robert Eugene Campbell was arrested at 6:41 p.m.
(UPDATE June 8, 9:25 p.m.) -- LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Aaron Eaton adds this information: the incident was the result of a fight between two patrons [LBREPORT.com believes at a sushi restaurant] and the suspect, who is a Long Beach resident, was arrested. As of the 9 p.m. hour, 2nd St. is closed from Glendora to Santa Ana Aves. and Pomona Ave. north from 2nd Street. (June 8, 2013, 7:50 p.m.) -- Belmont Shore saw LBPD activity at early evening tonight (Sat. June 8) as officers responded to a stabbing in the 5300 block of E. Second Street. Aaron Eaton says officers were dispatched to the location at about 6:30 p.m. regarding a stabbing that had just occurred. Officers located a man (adult) with injuries to his upper torso. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. In information as of approximately 7:30 p.m., a possible suspect was being detained at the scene. LBPD's investigation is (obviously) ongoing.
