(June 12, 2013) -- Long Beach City Prosecutor Doug Haubert has announced he will seek In a release today (June 12), City Prosecutor Haubert said he is "proud of the work of my office, especially during the most challenging time for law enforcement in recent history," adding "[w]e still have a lot of work ahead of us [and] I'm ready for the challenge." The release quotes L.A. DA Lacey as saying "Long Beach has great City Prosecutor in Doug Haubert [who is] working closely with the District Attorney’s Office and local police to keep kids in school -- and out of gangs," adding "I proudly endorse his re-election as City Prosecutor." Immediate past D.A. Steve Cooley said "Haubert is a tough prosecutor who is focusing on reducing gang violence...He has accomplished much in his first term of office, and he has earned re-election.: In his release, City Prosecutor Haubert cited his community involvement and focus on gang crime. He noted that his "Gang Prevention Strategy was recently recognized as one of the nation's Best Neighborhood Programs by Neighborhoods USA, which described the community-based program that includes gang intervention and suppression "a model for other prosecutors."
