Stacy Mungo, El Dorado Park Estates Homeowners Ass'n Prez, Files Paperwork & Launches Website Pursuing ELB's 5th dist. Council Seat

(June 9, 2013) -- Stacy Mungo, president of the El Dorado Park Estates Homeowners Asssociation, has filed initial paperwork to seek the 5th Council district seat in Long Beach's April-June 2014 election cycle. On June 6, Ms. Mungo, whose campaign website lists her as a budget officer for the County of Los Angeles, filed a Candidate Intention Statement required before soliciting or receiving contributions or expenditures of personal funds used for an election.

Ms. Mungo is the second 5th Council district candidate to surface. In January, Joseph Luyben who owns JDL Packaging Systems, a Paramount-based packaging, janitorial and office supplies distributor (Mr. Luyben's father opened Luyben mortuary) filed a Candidate Intention Statement. At this point, neither of the two potential candidates have filed Form 410, forming a formal political committee required within ten days of receiving $1,000 in contributions (monetary or non-monetary).

Current 5th district Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske, who will be completing her second Council term in 2014, is actively pursuing a campaign for Mayor.

Ms. Mungo has a campaign website up (StacyMungo.com) which indicates she attended LBCC, earned a B.A. from CSU Fullerton (political science) and an M.A. from USC (public administration) and then worked as a researcher for a member of the British Parliament.

Her website indicates she worked for the YMCA of Greater Long Beach, the CSU system and in private industry [no details on these positions] and after completing her M.A., went to work for the County of Los Angeles "where she is currently the Budget Officer for $130 million, primarily focused on seniors and workforce development."

[Mungo campaign website text]...Her county career has allowed her to work for the Chief Executive Office, the Department of Human Resources and the Department of Animal Care and Control. During her tenure she developed the Countywide Management Mentoring Program, served as a budget analyst for Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center, Office of AIDS Policy/Programs and other public health operational and special fund budgets in excess of $700 million, was a city liaison to more than 51 cities, and a project manager for the department's effort to revolutionize the way they do business.

Stacy sat on the Long Beach Unified School District Board as a student member, has continued her professional development though participation and leadership of the American Society for Public Administration, serving terms as the VP of Programs and as President.

Ms. Mungo has continued to serve her community by leading the El Dorado Park Estates Neighborhood Association as President from 2010-2013, and has partnered with We Love Long Beach to share best practices with neighborhood...

Ms. Mungo first came to LBREPORT.com's attention in summer 2012 when, as President of the El Dorado Park Estates Homeowners Association, she organized two additional El Dorado Park summer concerts by the Elm Street Band (one presented by her homeowners group and another partnering with the Los Altos Neighborhood Association South.) The two shows were in addition to the Elm Street Band concert traditionally presented by the El Dorado Park South Neighborhood Ass'n. following the end of the LB Muni Band concert series.
