(June 16, 2013) -- The South Wrigley area saw police activity on Saturday afternoon (June 15) in the area of PCH / Cedar - Pacific (border of 6th/1st Council districts).
LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. David Marander matter-of-factly says that at about 3:40 p.m., officers attempted a vehicle stop in the 1800 block of Cedar Ave. (just north of PCH). "The male driver exited the vehicle and ran from the officer(s). After a short foot pursuit, the officers used a "Taser" electronic control device to apprehend the suspect. Charges include the alleged traffic violation and resisting arrest." Here what community volunteer P.G. Herman saw, excerpted from her Facebook text: Around 3:45 p.m. today, I was heading south on Pacific on my way to the [Long Beach Rescue Mission] to pick up pastries for tomorrow's [Father's Day's] Ronald McDonald House Breakfast. As soon as I crossed Pacific I saw an officer running with incredible determination alongside the parked cars by the liquor store. In her favored Hawaiian, Ms. Herman added, "Mahalo" [thank you] to the officer, and added, "West Division Rocks!" .
