Gunfire Area 15th/Lewis (Near CA Rec Center/McBride Park Just East of Poly High); LBPD Says Intended Victims Weren't Hit, Suspect Is In Custody
|
(June 5, 2014) -- On Wednesday June 4, gunfire flew at late afternoon just east of Long Beach Poly High School and near LB's California Rec Center/McBride Park. LBPD believes there was more than one intended victim although no one was hit...and LBPD has a suspect in custody.
LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com that at about 5:42 p.m., officers responded to the area of 15th St/Lewis Avenue regarding shots heard in the area...and arriving officers determined that a shooting had indeed occurred. However, LBPD says the intended victims didn't report being hit. PIO Arrona says officers recovered a firearm and a suspect identified as Jermaine Beavers, 24, of Long Beach, was booked on [booking charges/allegations] of assault with a firearm and weapons charges with a gang enhancement. PIO Arrona says officers also recovered a gun...and officers are investigating what took place as possibly gang related. The latest gunfire is just two blocks west of where a May 28 midnight hour drive-by shooting sent multiple bullets flying at a residence (an inhabited dwelling) in the 900 block of E. New York St. No person was hit in that shooting. Four days prior to the May 28 gunfire, a May 24 double-shooting (two persons hit) in the 1900 block of Lime Ave. lef one person dead roughly five blocks north of the two most recent shootings. blog comments powered by Disqus
