Int'l Space Stn Carrying High Def Cameras Captured This View As It Crossed So. Cal Coast in Ventura County
|
(June 30, 2014) -- As carried LIVE in LBREPORT.com's front page, the Int'l Space Station orbited over So. Cal about 6:37 p.m. on Sunday. It couldn't be seen from ground BUT it could see us...because since April, it's been experimenting with high definition cameras mounted outside the spacecraft.
The shot below is a screen save as the spacecraft crossed CA coastline at roughly Port Hueneme (Channel Islands visible.)
The Space Station passed nearly directly over Long Beach BUT (alas) NASA's video stream was intermittent as the crew appeared to switch to a different camera pointing ahead (toward darkness) just as they went over the LA/LB area, preventing the video view we'd hoped for. We'll try again if/when the spacecraft passes over LB on subsequent daytime orbits. blog comments powered by Disqus
