July 4th Spectacular @ ELB Vets Stadium = LB Muni Band Concert + Rock for Vets Performance + Tribute to 16 LB Hometown Heroes + Professional Fireworks Show

(June 30, 2014) -- Yes, there WILL be a LB Muni Band concert on July 4th (but not at El Dorado Park). The Long Beach Municipal Band will deliver a performance with plenty of patriotic tunes as part of a July 4th Spectacular that will be capped by a major professional Fireworks show at ELB's Veterans Stadium (Clark Ave./Conant St.)

The event, organized by the office of outgoing Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske, will also include a concert by Rock For Vets (a music instructional/education program at VA LB that has helps Veterans overcome PTSD, Spinal Cord Injury, Brain Injury, Blind Rehabilitation and other conditions and illnesses. Info, click here.)

The National Anthem will be performed by American Idol contestant Chris Gamboa.

And -- very important -- the event will present a tribute to the 16 Long Beach Hometown Heroes who gave their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. The LB Hometown Heroes are also honored with memorial banners at Rosie the Riveter Park adjacent to Vets stadium, made possible by the Rose the Riveter Foundation.

And 238 years from the day 56 defiant, principled men completed signing the Declaration of Independence -- rejecting the rule of King George III and risking their lives, their fortune, their sacred honor and their necks on the gallows if caught -- the ELB sky will be filled with fireworks in a professional pyrotechnic display.

Gates open on July 4th at 4:40 p.m. The program starts at 5:00 p.m. Parking is $10 per vehicle (no coolers, alcohol, personal fireworks (including sparklers), food, beverages, or weapons allowed; no RVs or tailgating parties in the parking lot; security will search bags before entering)

Hosting the event with Councilwomen Schipske's 5th District Office are Partners of Parks, Jet Blue, Lamar Advertising, Long Beach Parks Recreation and Marine and the Long Beach Firefighters Association.

Councilwoman Schipske says entrance to the show is FREE...although donations are being accepted to help cover the costs for the Municipal Band and the Fireworks Spectacular. Donations can be made with a click now if you wish to www.partnersofparks.org."
