On Sunday June 1, 2014, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to the area of Cherry Avenue & Harding Street regarding an injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle and two vehicles, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

When officers arrived, they located a downed motorcycle rider, identified as 21-year-old Miguel Magana of Long Beach, who had sustained major trauma to his body. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Victim Magana to a local hospital, where he was later determined deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed that per witnesses, the Yamaha motorcycle was traveling southbound Cherry Avenue approaching Harding Street at a high rate of speed, when it collided with a Toyota SUV that was travelling northbound on Cherry Avenue and attempting to turn left turn onto Harding Street. After the initial collision, the Toyota SUV then collided with a Honda SUV which was stopped and waiting at a red light on eastbound Harding Street at Cherry Avenue.

No other individuals involved in the collision were transported.
