(June 27, 2017, 9:30 a.m.) -- Mayor Garcia's re-election campaign is assisting the re-election campaigns of City Council incumbents Stacy Mungo, Lena Gonzalez and Rex Richardson.

Garcia's re-election campaign recently sent a communication soliciting financial contributions for the Mungo, Gonzalez and Richardson campaigns at an event scheduled with Garcia later today (June 27) at a location in Bixby Knolls.

RE: JULY 3RD/4TH SECURITY PATROL PROPOSAL AND SIGN UP

Several homeowners have hired DTM Security to patrol their property on the July 4th holiday. Re-election candidates Garcia, Gonzalez, Uranga and Richardson (and perhaps Mungo, we're not absolutely certain) have already held campaign contribution-seeking events for themselves. The identities of persons and/or entities that contributed sums at those events, or may do so today, will become known by August 1 when the candidates submit financial paperwork for the period ending June 30.

Seeking campaign contributions early in the election cycle is a conventional strategy to build a financial warchest, create a list of publicizable names and generally convey the impression that a campaign is unstoppable...with the immediate goal of deterring challengers from entering the April/June 2018 city election cycle.

To date, no election challengers have surfaced to Council incumbents Gonzalez, Mungo, Uranga and Richardson (or to the incumbent City Attorney, City Prosecutor and City Auditor.) Individuals have filed paperwork stating their intention to challenge Council incumbent Price (Carmen Huxley) and (as of June 23) Mayor Garcia (Phillips Bonaparte).
