Measure M faced no organized campaign against it (mainly relegated to individual social network blurbs by its four opposing ballot argument co-signers and grassroots lawn signs). It had a campaign warchest of $125,000 in support funded by LB's police and firefighter union PACs. Mayor Garcia and several Councilmembers also used their privately operated social network channels and told constituents that the measure isn't a tax despite its use of the word "tax" in the "whereas" clauses of the resolution the Council approved in putting it on the ballot. City officials also omitted the measure's actual text from the official voter pamphlet and City-produced "informational" materials.
