(March 10, 2004) -- In a coordinated predawn action, Detectives from LBPD's Gang and Violent Crime Division with assistance from LBPD's SWAT team served multiple search warrants and arrested a trio of suspects in connection with a series of gang-related shootings in the area of 10th St. and Walnut Ave. over the past month.
As part of its investigation, LBPD served five search warrants and conducted five probation searches starting at 5 a.m. on March 10. Shortly thereafter, officers had three individuals in custody: Ricardo Martinez, 19, of LB, arrested in 1000 block of Almond Ave. plus a male juvenile arrested in the 1500 block of E. 10th St. (both booked for assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shootings). Another male juvenile was arrested in the 1000 block of E. 12th St. for a probation violation.
