Gunfire, 800 block Walnut Ave.; One Man Dead, Another Wounded

(March 22, 2005) -- One man was fatally shot and another was wounded in the 800 block of Walnut Ave. on March 21 at roughly 11:20 p.m.

In a written release, LBPD says officers responded to a "shots fired" call and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. LBFD transported him to a hospital where he died of his injuries; his identity is pending release by the County Coroner.

LBPD says a second victim, who was also standing with a group of people, was treated at a local hospital for what's described as a non-life threatening injury.

The suspect was last seen walking from the scene.

LBPD currently has no motive for shooting and asks anyone with information to call LBPD's Homicide Detectives Mark McGuire or William Matsubara at (562) 570-7244.
