Sat. Mar. 19 Predawn Shooting, 1500 block Obispo

(March 19, 2005) -- A predawn shooting jolted residents in the area of the 1500 block of Obispo Ave. at roughly 4:16 a.m. today (March 19).

LBPD Public Information Officer Greg Schirmer says police received multiple calls reporting shots fired. Officers arrived and found a man lying on the ground with serious injuries. LBFD transported him to a hospital; his condition is unknown as we post at midmorning.

The assailant fled on foot. It's currently unknown if the shooting was gang related, although LBPD gang detectives are assisting in the investigation.

LBPD asks anyone who heard or saw anything that might be helpful in the investigation to call LBPD's non-emergency line: (562) 435-6711. Explain the situation and they'll connect you to the proper person.

    Further to follow as newsworthy.
