(March 7, 2006) -- At an arraignment today in Bellflower, the L.A. County District Attorney's office brought nine charges against defendant Brian Alan Miller, 36, of Lakewood following a March 5 explosion at a rented Lakewood home in the 6100 block of Dunrobin St. (at Ashworth Street, north of South St. between Bellflower Blvd. & Woodruff Ave.)
The charges/allegations include possession of a destructive device, possession of ingredients to make a destructive device, possession of an explosive, possession for sale of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), reckless causing of a fire to an inhabited structure, two charges of child abuse and two charges of vandalism over $400 in damage.
Defendant Miller pled not guilty. Bail was set at $850,000 and the defendant remains in custody. He'll next appear in a Bellflower courtroom on March 20.
The 6:50 a.m. Sunday blast sent debris flying and literally raised the roof of the house, leaving it yellow-tagged. LBReport.com readers reported hearing the explosion as far away as ELB's LBCC and western El Dorado Park neighborhoods.
