(March 8, 2007) -- AAA reports that the average credit card price for regular unleaded gasioline in the L.A.-LB area as of the end of the day March 7 was $2.934.
Various "experts" now predict the price will rise further in anticipation of the start of the "summer blend" of gasoline...which is usually higher than the price now.
Other gasoline grades are already beyond $3.00+/gallon: Midgrade = $3.123; Premium = $3.174; Diesel = $3.042.
The all time daily high for regular unleaded gasoline in this market was $3.402 recorded on May 14, 2006.
A month ago, the pump price for regular unleaded was $2.559. A year ago it was $2.553.
Retail gasoline prices dipped to closer to $2.00 a gallon in the period leading up to the Nov. 2006 election in which one of the measures on the CA ballot was a proposed tax on gasoline. Amid an opposition campaign funded by industry-related interests, CA voters rejected the measure...and since then retail gasoline prices have risen again.
