(March 18, 2007) -- Details are sketchy regarding separate weekend shootings that took the life of a 24 yr-old LB resident near MLK Park in the 6th Council district and left three men wounded in a North Long Beach alley a few hours earlier.
LBPD Public Information Officer Dina Zapalski tells LBReport.com that the homicide took place in the 2000 block of Lemon Ave. Officers responded to a shooting call at 2:45 a.m. Sunday March 18. The victim, a 24 yr-old Asian resident, was taken to a hospital by friends, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's identify hasn't been released pending notification of next of kin; LBPD has no suspect description as we post.
About four hours earlier at roughly 10:36 p.m. Saturday March 17, LBPD responded to a "shots fired" call in the 6900 block of LB Blvd. and officers found three male Hispanics in a rear alley, all of whom had been shot.
They were transported to hospitals with wounds described as non-life threatening. No further details immediately available.
