In a release, Councilwoman Suja Lowenthal said, "I encourage residents and artists to use this space to celebrate and showcase the arts. This public venue is ready for classes, art showings, performances and more."
Councilwoman Lowenthal, elected in mid-2006, found the mini-size pocket park had fallen victim to neglect and other nuisances and worked with city staff to remedy the situation. The park had been unofficially reopened to the public for some time, and its official reopening was timed to coincide with "Smithsonian Week" events and Linden Ave.'s Second Saturday Art Walk.
