(March 16, 2008, updated at dawn Mar. 17) -- A Sunday evening walk-up double shooting has taken the life of an 11-yr old boy and wounded a 20-yr. old man on 15th St. just east of Cherry Ave.

Preliminary information is via LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Dina Zapalski who says that at about 10:00 p.m. the boy and the man were apparently standing in front of residence when two suspects walked up and shot at them.
The victims were transported to a local hospital. The 11 year-old (would have been 12 in two months) didn't survive his injuries. At dawn, LBPD identified him as Jose Luis Garcia Bailey.
The 20 yr-old man wounded in the shooting was reportedly in stable condition.
LBPD investigators were on scene until daybreak. There's no suspect information released yet. Sgt. Zapalski says the crime is being investigated as possibly gang related.
Approximately two hour earlier, a drive-by shooting took place on in the 1900 block of Henderson Ave. in the southern Wrigley area.
Sgt. Zapalski says that at about 8:00 p.m., a male Hispanic subject was walking down the street when a vehicle drove by and shot at him multiple times, striking him once in the upper body. He was transported to a hospital with NON-life-threatening injuries.
A residence in the area was also struck by gunfire...but the rounds didn't enter the building.
And in the predawn hours Sunday, a shooting took place in the 1600 block of Anaheim St. LBPD says that at about 3:50 a.m., two subjects got in an argument in a restaurant, went outside to the parking lot and one shot the other.
The shooting victim was in critical condition when transported. The suspect is a male Hispanic who fled in an unknown vehicle.
