Fri. Nite: Shots Fired At Couple Driving On Walnut Ave. @ 11th St.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. David Marander tells LBReport.com that at about 7:38 p.m, officers responded to the area where a man and a woman said they were headed north on Walnut Ave. and came to a stop at 11th St....where a grey colored vehicle passed them on the driver's side...and the saw what appeared to be gun shots coming from the front passenger part of the vehicle.

The victims' vehicle wasn't hit. Sgt. Marander says officers were unable to find any evidence that a shooting occurred but the victims' report of gunfire was corroborated by witnesses. The victims said at least two people were in the suspect vehicle.

No one was injured in tonight's "246" shooting, named for the CA Penal Code section making it a crime to "maliciously and willfully discharge a firearm at an inhabited dwelling house, occupied building or occupied motor vehicle, occupied aircraft..."
