(March, 22, 2012) -- The Stearns Park Neighborhood Association will hold a 4th Council district candidates forum tonight (Mar. 22) at Tucker Elementary School, 2221 Argonne Ave. (off of Stearns St.) Event co-organizer Bob Bryan tells LBReport.com doors will open at 6:30 p.m. At 7:00 p.m.: the three candidates (on the ballot: Daryl Supernaw and John Watkins; conducting write-in campaign Councilman Patrick O'Donnell) will deliver speeches (seven minutes each), followed by Q & A from the audience. Closing speeches are tentatively scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at the latest and the event ends by 8:45 p.m. at the latest. Vote by mail ballots are circulating now; polling place election day is April 10. If one of the three candidates receives 50%+1 of votes tallied in the April 10 election, he is elected and will take office in mid-July. If no candidate receives over 50% of votes cast, a June runoff will be held between the top two April finishers. If Councilman O'Donnell -- who under LB's term limits law is waging a write-in campaign now -- is one of the top two finishers in the April election, his name will appear on the ballot in the June runoff. One of the three men on stage tonight will be LB's 4th district Councilman for the next four years, with votes impacting residents and taxpayers citywide on spending, city services, land use, development projects and city policies.
