Cong. Laura Richardson Falls One Vote Short Of Getting LB Democratic Club Endorsement

| (March 8, 2012) -- At its meeting tonight (Mar. 8), Congresswoman (and former 6th dist. LB Councilwoman) Laura Richardson (D, Carson-LB) fell one vote short of receiving the endorsement of the Long Beach Democratic Club tonight.
Under the club's rules, endorsement requires the votes of 60% of those attending...and Cong. Richardson came up one vote short at tonight's meeting. The tally tells the tale: 
Cong. Richardson's current district, a Carson-LB area drawn by Sacramento Democrats in 2001 to benefit then-incumbent Cong. Juanita Millender-McDonald, includes includes roughly 75% of Long Beach...but she's running in a district that now includes only a small part of Long Beach. Congresswoman Hahn currently represents a southbay district formerly held by Jane Harman.

In June, Congresswoman Richardson will face former L.A. Councilwoman -- now incumbent Congresswoman -- Janice Hahn in a newly drawn Congressional district (right) that doesn't include much of LB.
