(Mar. 25, 2014, 2:55 p.m.) -- A store clerk shot during Monday night's (Mar. 24) robbery of a mini-mart on 7th St. between Orange and Cerritos Aves. remains in critical condition at midafternoon Tuesday (Mar. 25)...and LBPD worked through the night and now seeks the public's assistance -- video and/or witness observations -- to help develop a suspect description.


In a release today (Mar. 25), LBPD also indicates that "Due to the extent of the victim's injuries, Homicide detectives responded to the scene." The LBPD release continues:

Officers worked diligently throughout the night to collect evidence, review witness statements, and seek out any video surveillance that may have captured useful information.

The preliminary investigation indicated a male suspect entered the mini-market, fired a weapon toward the clerk, striking him in the upper torso, and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect remains outstanding.

Detectives continue to review video in an effort to develop a suspect description and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact LBPD Homicide Detectives Scott Lasch and Donald Goodman at (562) 570-7244.

(Mar 24, 2014, 11:45 p.m. updated from breaking.) -- A flashed on LBREPORT.com's front page earlier tonight, a shooting took place along busy 7th St. between Cerritos and Orange Aves. on Monday night (Mar. 24).

In initial information, LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com that at roughly 7:50 p.m, officers were dispatched to the area of 7th St/Cerritos Ave. re unknown trouble; officers arrived and learned that a robbery had occurred to a business in 1100 block of E. 7th St.; an employee was shot and wounded; LBFD transported him to a hospital; the suspect(s) are outstanding and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.
