Countdown Clocks

(March 1, 2014, 6:15 a.m.) -- A Westminster PD commercial burglary investigation brought a containment perimeter and closed off streets between Cherry and St. Louis from 19th-21st St, on Feb. 28, and LBPD SWAT and a K9 unit assisted Signal Hill PD and Westminster PD in taking a suspect into custody.

In a release, Westminster PD states:

On February 28, 2014 at around 1500 hrs, WPD detectives were conducting an investigation related to a commercial burglary that occurred in Westminster on February 21, 2014. Jimmy Jackson was identified as a suspect in the burglary and also wanted for a parole violation.

While following up on information in the city of Signal Hill, detectives observed Jackson enter a black passenger vehicle and drive away from an apartment complex. Officers from Signal Hill PD responded and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle on Cherry St at 21st St.

Jackson was uncooperative and fled on foot into the residential neighborhood of St Louis Ave south of 20th St. Officers from Signal Hill PD and Long Beach PD established a perimeter containing Jackson.

Long Beach PD SWAT units began a search and he was quickly located hiding behind a home in the 1900 block of St Louis. He would [allegedly] not surrender and was taken into custody by a Long Beach PD K-9 unit suffering minor injuries.

Sergeant Richard Mize said "Signal Hill and Long Beach Police Departments did a great job. We worked as a team and quickly apprehended Jackson." Jackson was transported to WPD where he was processed and later booked at Orange County Jail for the [alleged] parole violation pending criminal charges for commercial burglary...
