(Mar. 9, 2015) -- Following-up on a front advisory we reported yesterday (Sunday Mar. 8), LBREPORT.com has learned that an assault between two homeless persons involved a shooting.

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt tells LBREPORT.com that at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday (Mar. 8), an assault occurred involving two homeless men in their 30s in the area of the L.A. River near PCH (where they live.) PIO Pratt says LBPD's preliminary investigation indicates that one of the men "pointed a firearm at the other and fired. The victim was struck by bullet fragments, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries." [Story continues below, scroll down]
LBPD says the shooting prompted an immediate search for the suspect along the riverbed, which included the Anaheim St. bridge (which crosses the L.A. river.) For a period of time, Anaheim St. was also closed (in both directions) and SWAT was called in to complete the search as a precaution and with the possibility of a barricaded suspect. Police conducted a thorough search that didn't end until about 11:00 p.m. due to the complexity of the search (terrain and after dark.) Despite the lengthy search, the suspect wasn't located...and LBPD says its investigation remains ongoing. blog comments powered by Disqus Recommend LBREPORT.com to your Facebook friends:
