(Apr. 1, 6:05 a.m.) -- Long Beach had its second homicide in 24 hours last night, this time in Central Long Beach roughly two blocks south of MacArthur Park and the Mark Twain library. Preliminary information at predawn is sketchy. LBPD overnight Watch Commandr Lt. Greg Schirmer tells LBREPORT.com that at about 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of E. 11th St. ; officers found a male victim (age not available at this point); he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. There's no immediate suspect information and officers are investigating the circumstances of the latest homicide. We'll add further details as received. As reported yesterday by LBREPORT.com, a man was fatally shot about 24 hours earlier in the 1600 block of Pine Ave. (1st Council district), about two blocks north of a new "Habitat for Humanity" home unveiled at a press event held with local officials.
