Man Is Fatally Shot, area 16th St./Pine Ave.

Crime scene is roughly two blocks north of new "Habitat for Humanity" house dedicated with local pols present less than 60 days earlier

(Mar. 31, 9:30 p.m.) -- LBPD provides additional information on last night's homicide (Mar. 30) in s Mar. 31 release.

LBPD's release indicates that the victim was allegedly approached by two male Blacks; was shot multiple times in the torso; the suspects fled by running east on 16th St...and a motive for the shooting is currently unknown

The suspects may also have been involved in a physical altercation in the area of 16th/Locust...although that investigation remains ongoin.

The victim was a man in his 40s; his identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.


(Mar. 31, 2016, 4:45 a.m.) -- A man was fatally shot on Wednesday night (Mar. 30) in the 1600 block of Pine Ave. (1st Council district.) Officers are on scene investigating as we report initial information before dawn.

LBPD overnight Watch Commander Lt. Greg Schirmer tells LBREPORT.com that at about 11 p.m. (Mar. 30), officers responded to a shooting in the 1600 block of Pine Ave. They found a man (adult) in the street with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

There's no immediate suspect information; officers are investigating the circumstances of the homicide, including whether it was or wasn't gang related.
