(March 8, 2017, 5:05 p.m.) -- Did road rage trigger Tuesday afternoon's (March 7) deadly downtown/East Village double-shooting (which left a man dead and a woman wounded in the 200 block of Liberty Court)? In a release roughly 24 hours after the crime, LBPD says "the motive for this case is still under investigation but may be an incident of road-rage, after the victims and suspect/s got in an argument at a different location just prior to the shooting."
As LBREPORT.com independently reported in our initial report of this crime, an individual who happened to be in the area told us that two cars cut across three lanes onto N. Liberty Court; he says they stopped and a young man got out of the lead car, walked up to the car following and allegedly started firing.
LBPD's release identifies the deceased victim as Trevor McCrainey, 22, of Long Beach. A woman was wounded, transported to a hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition, the release indicated.

(Initial report March 7 as front page breaking, updated March 8 at 4:45 a.m.) As flashed on LBREPORT.com's front page as rapidly as confirmed, a horrifying double-shooting took place in broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon (March 7) in LB's East Village Arts District (eastern part of downtown LB) that left a man (adult) dead and wounded a woman.
Initial information is sketchy. LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt says the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Liberty Court (narrow street north of Broadway just west of Atlantic Ave.) At roughly 4:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Broadway/Atlantic Ave. regarding a shots call and found two victims struck by gunfire. One victim, a man (adult) was pronounced deceased at the scene; the second victim, a woman, as transported to a hospital; in the 7:00 p.m. hour, she was reported in serious but stable condition.

LBPD said a motive for the shooting is for now unknown and its investigation is ongoing.
