710 Fwy. Future To Be Discussed At "Major Investment Study Workshop," Council Chambers, May 28, 2:00-3:30 p.m.

(May 24, 2002) -- City Councilmembers will convene a special "committee of the whole" to see the results of a "Major Investment Study" of the 710 freeway, presented by consultants Parsons, Brinkerhoff, Quade and Douglas.

The meeting will take place Tuesday, May 28, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the City Council chambers. A City Hall release says the study is a "joint effort by Cal Trans, SCAG [Southern CA Ass'n of Gov'ts], the Gateway Cities Council of Governments, and the Port of Long Beach" and is "a preliminary step towards receiving federal funding for major improvements to this vitally important highway."

The release says "all City Councilmembers and members of the public are invited to participate. Mayor Beverly O'Neill will chair the meeting."
