(May 22, 2002) -- A 40 year old LB resident was shot dead in the late evening of May 21 in the area of 15th St. and Gardenia Ave. at the border of the 4th and 6th Council districts.

LBPD says Robert Mendoza of LB sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Mr. Mendoza was on foot in the area when a male Hispanic approached him and shot him at close range.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 20-30 years old, medium build and height, wearing brown shorts and a black jacket, last seen running westbound from the scene of the crime.
