Help Identify LB's Enablers Of These Fine Messes

    L&H

  • April 30, 2003: "At some point in the future, however, the FAA may be presented with a complaint from a third party...or may have reason to review [LB's Airport Noise Compatibility Ordinance] from a compliance standpoint on its own initiative...That review would not be affected by the opinions in this letter related to the settlement terms. In other words, the FAA would not revisit the settlement terms, but the current finding that the settlement is a reasonable action under existing [LB Airport noise ordinance] would not prevent an analysis of whether the provisions of [the LB ordinance] themselves meet Federal access requirements, if that issue were to be raised." FAA letter to LB Airport, posted verbatim on LBReport.com

  • May 20, 2003: "Beginning this fiscal year...all of the [Redevelopment Agency portion of LB's Transient Occupancy Tax (downtown hotel room revenue)] funds are needed to support the Aquarium bond payments. Due to the lack of [these] available [funds], the [Special Advertising and Promotion] fund is projecting a structural budget deficit in FY 04." LB Dir. of Financial Mgt. Robert Torrez, agendized mid-year budget performance report, quoted on LBReport.com

  • May 22, 2003: "We were all promised the kind of expectation that would be made there [with the Alameda Corridor], and we have been hearing reports, and as it was reported today in the L.A. Times, we're not getting the utilization that we should be getting there and with the kind of investments the MTA made." L.A. County Supervisor/MTA Director Gloria Molina seeking report on Alameda Corridor performance of Alameda Corridor, reported on LBReport.com
