Two suspects (juveniles) apprehended; one adult at large
(May 6, 2003) -- A chaotic scene ensued following a robbery at the Fantasy Castle ("Showgirls and Sports Bar") in Signal Hill at midday May 5.
Signal Hill PD said in a written release that three suspects fled on foot, northbound on Walnut Ave., with an undisclosed amount of cash...and witnesses chased the suspects and pointed them out to arriving officers.
The suspects headed in three different directions...two running from Walnut Ave. onto the southbound lanes of the 405 freeway. One of the suspects crossing the southbound lanes was struck by a vehicle...which was rear-ended in trying to avoid the suspect.
The suspect then got up...and continued running.
Signal Hill cops, assisted by LBPD and CHP, found two suspects -- both juveniles -- on the freeway between Walnut and Cherry Avenues. They were taken into custody and booked on robbery charges. A third suspect, described as a light skin black male approximately 21 years old, was still outstanding.
A Signal Hill police officer sustained a minor ankle injury while chasing the suspects on foot on the freeway. LBFD transported the officer to a nearby hospital for treatment and release.
