(May 13, 2004) -- Following-up on an inquiry by LBReport.com, LBPD Public Information Officer Greg Schirmer indicates that as of May 13, police can't say that recent shootings in the general area of Rose Park are connected, but LBPD Detectives are continuing their investigation of the cases.
As previously reported by LBReport.com, shortly before 10:00 p.m. on May 8,
shots were fired in the area of 11th and Molino Ave. from a black car as it drove by a group of roughly 10-15 people. No one was hit.
About twenth-two hours earlier, shortly after midnight on May 8, LBPD responded to a shots-fired call in the 1000 block of Molino Ave. and found a 26 year old LB resident on a bicycle, shot multiple times in the mid-torso. Police believe the suspect walked up and fired several rounds, then got into a vehicle which drove off. The victim is expected to survive. Suspect information is sketchy: a male, roughly 18 years old.
On April 30, there was a shooting in the area of 7th St. and St. Louis Ave.
On April 29, a shooting occurred in the area of 7th St. near Orizaba Ave.
Again, LBPD says its investigation into the cases is continuing. If you have information that could prove helpful, do phone LBPD (non-emergency line during office hours: 435-6711), ask for a Detective and they'll know what to do.
