(May 30, 2006) -- LBReport.com posts below details on pass-rates -- with separate break-outs for the English Language Arts and Math sections -- on the "CA High School Exit Exam" at LBUSD high schools in the class of 2006.
The English section tests up to 10th grade standards in reading and writing. Students can pass with 60% correct answers.
The Math section tests up to 6th and 7th grade standards plus Algebra. Students can pass with 55% correct answers.
Each student must take the exam in in the 10th grade. Those who don't pass have five more chances to pass -- twice in the 11th grade and three times in the 12th grade.
The state legislature originally intended that students starting with the class of 2004 pass the exam to graduate. However in July 2003 (under a grant of authority from the state legislature), the State Board of Education delayed the graduation requirement for two years...to 2006.
The table indicates the percentage of 2006 LBUSD seniors who passed each section of the test, and both sections of the test, as of May 25, 2006. We ranked the schools (high to low pass rate) by the percentage of students passing both sections of the test.
