News / Advisory Another Incident Of Man Approaching Female Students, Area Redondo/11th St., Offering Them Money For...
(May 16, 2007) -- LBPD says that on May 16 at about 7:00 a.m. in the area of 11th St. and Redondo Ave., another incident took place in which a man approached female students and offered them money (no attempt at physical contact) after which the students fled.
In the May 16 incident, the suspect was described as a White male, 35-40 years old, 6'0" to 6'2" tall, black hair, blue sweatshirt and tan pants.
In the first three incidents (below), the suspect was described as a White male, 40-50 years old, 5'6" to 5'1" tall, 180 lbs., wearing a baseball cap, dark blue sweatshirt (possibly hooded) and jeans. Those prior incidents took place as follows:
May 2, 2007 at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the area of 8th Street and Redondo Avenue.
May 4, 2007 at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the area of 10th Street and Loma Avenue.
May 7, 2007 at approximately 8:00 a.m. in the area of 11th Street and Temple Avenue.
LBPD encourages the public to take the following safety measures:
- Always be alert and aware of your surroundings and the people around you
- Be aware of locations and situations which could make you vulnerable to crime, such as dark parking lots, walkways and restrooms
- Stay in well-lighted areas as much as possible
- Whenever possible, travel with a friend -- there is safety in numbers
- Report suspicious activity immediately to 9-1-1
- Don't talk with strangers
