Three days before Christmas 2006, Officers Yap and Wade, Jr. conducted what they thought would be a routine traffic stop in the heart of downtown LB (LB Blvd. at 6th St.). Instead, the driver pulled out a gun and opened fire on them.
With wounds so serious that fellow officers feared the two men wouldn't survive waiting for paramedics, fellow officers rushed them in police vehicles to LB Memorial Hospital where teams of doctors and nurses fought to save their lives.
The fact that Officers Yap and Wade Jr. are alive today to speak on the video is considered by many to be nothing less than miraculous.
