Doug Drummond Long Beach
Ed. note: Mr. Drummond is retired from two terms as 3rd district Councilmember (1990-98) during which his Council colleagues elected him Vice Mayor (1994-96). He ran for Mayor in 2006 urging "clean money" campaigns.
Simply put, Long Beach elected officials, much like our nation's entire political landscape, have encouraged a pay-to-play process where I believe the interests who give the most money to a candidate will receive reciprocal treatment from that person who gets into public office. I don't believe any of the two featured Assembly hopefuls can paint themselves as being different.
