News Blair Field Turns 50...And LB Wins

| (May 11, 2008) -- LB's Blair Field, an icon in Rec Park, turned fifty on Saturday night May 10 and entered its sixth decade with a cheering crowd, fireworks...and a win for LB. |

A Parks, Rec & Marine release says the venerable ballyard opened in 1958 and was updated in 1992 and 1999 to a 3,238-seat facility including 744 box seats. For its 50th birthday, the grandstand was about 3/4 filled...with plenty of cheering for the home team.
LB's Dirtbags dispatched the Santa Barbara Gauchos 10-8. Santa Barbara led up until the third inning...and then the DirtBags put the hammer down, igniting a back and forth battle for the lead.
In the bottom of the 7th, the DirtBags pulled ahead with two more runs, followed by a tense 8th inning with no runs for either side.
