News / Photo Coverage LB's Newest Fire Station Opens On Terminal Island
(May 6, 2008) -- LB's newest fire station -- on Terminal Island in the Port of LB -- opened May 6. It's NW of Ocean Blvd. and the TI (47) freeway, built with Port of LB funding and houses an Engine Company and a Hazardous Materials apparatus.

The opening/dedication ceremony was attended by Mayor Bob Foster, Harbor Commission President Mario Cordero, City Manager Pat West, Fire Chief Dave Ellis...and (below) plenty of firefighters.

"This station will provide the Long Beach Fire Department with an important base in the midst of the Port, and provide for improved service to the tenants in the Port, as well as the entire community," said Fire Chief Dave Ellis.

"This new fire station will improve safety and security not just for the Port, but for all of Long Beach," said Mario Cordero, President of LB's Board of Harbor Commissioners.
