(May 21, 2008) -- Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D., Carson-LB) has denied a report published in the Sacramento-based Capitol Weekly.net that a Sacramento area home purchased by then-Assemblywoman Richardson is in foreclosure and was seized by a bank. (CapitolWeekly: "Foreclosure Tale Shows That Nobody Is Immune From Crisis").
The denial is reported in the Los Angeles Times blog "L.A. Land" by Peter Viles via a written statement from the Congresswoman's office.
Salient portion of the Congresswoman's statement (emphasis in original): "...[T]he residential property in Sacramento California is not in foreclosure and has NOT been seized by the bank. I have worked with my lender to complete a loan modification and have renegotiated the terms of the agreement -- with no special provisions. I fully intend to fulfill all financial obligations of this property."
