Former Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust Prez Heather Altman Launches SE LB "Egrets Not Regrets" Blog, Initial Materials Deal With 2nd/PCH Project |
|
(May 8, 2009) -- Heather Altman, former President of the Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust, has launched a blog that she says she hopes will become a kind of "one stop shop" for environmental info as it pertains to SE LB. The information visible this morning (May 8) deals with the proposed 2nd/PCH project. [The official project website (secondandpch.com) promises a new website "coming soon."] On her blog home page, Ms. Altman writes: With newly proposed projects, illegal wetlands destruction and ongoing master rezoning efforts currently afoot, Southeast Long Beach is a busy place, at least from an environmental standpoint. And with the degraded Los Cerritos Wetlands central to the area, proper comprehensive master planning now is the key. Failure to do so could have disastrous consequences for the eventual restoration of these fragile lands. My intention is for this blog to be a source of environmental information and an education tool. Ideally, it will be used to not just help one better understand the environmental regulatory process, but will also facilitate intelligent and responsible discussion/debate about things environmentally impacting residents, visitors and the Los Cerritos Wetlands. I hope you find the information contained herein useful. Ms. Altman's website is at www.egretsnotregrets.blogspot.com.
