Councilmembers have equal votes on development and spending issues citywide...and the campaign has attracted money from beyond the Cal Hts/Bixby Knolls/Wrigley/WLB district.

Vote by mail ballots are now flying; the polling place election day is June 8.

During the April 25-May 22 period, the Johnson campaign collected $43,475 in monetary contributions, spent $29,943...and as of May 22 had $16,419 remaining.

During the same period, the Uranga campaign collected $17,392 in monetary contributions, spent $21,630, and as of May 22 had $6,174 remaining.

Below are other salient contributions for the period April 25-May 22 (doesn't include all contributions; titles for identification; zip codes as listed).

No, it's not a typo; Carl Kemp, contributed to both candidates in the runoff. Mr. Kemp (managing partner of The Kemp Group) is a lobbyist/advocate for [UPDATE] clients including developers of the proposed 2nd/PCH project, the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (Kemp website text: "promotes policies to minimize the environmental impacts of the shipping industry"), Evergreen Shipping International ("fourth-largest containerized shipping company in the world, with a fleet of over 150 ships calling on 240 ports worldwide in about 80 countries") and at least one Belmont Shore medical marijuana outlet.

[Additional caveat: The sums reported below to the candidates' committees don't include independent expenditures reflecting independent activities by various interest groups supporting/opposing a candidate in the race.]
