(UPDATED May 29, 9:20 p.m.) -- The L.A. County Coroner's office has identified the two persons found fatally shot last night (May 28) in a car stopped along the southbound 405 freeway (north of LB Blvd., south of 710 interchange) as Derek Pouono, a male Samoan age 35, of Long Beach and Reginald Watson Sajonas, a male Hispanic age 37, of Anaheim. (Information provided to us by L.A. County Coroner Lt. Bale.)

(UPDATED May 29 2:45 a.m. from May 28 front page) -- Following-up on events LBReport.com began moving on our front page (www.lbreport.com) last night, LBPD says two men were found dead from gunshot wounds in a vehicle on the northbound 405 freeway south of the 710 freeway in Long Beach on Saturday night (May 28).

The exact location where the shootings took place had not been determined as of 2:30 a.m.

The grisly events unfolded after CHP responded to a report of a vehicle on the north 405 just north of the Long Beach Blvd. off-ramp (south of the 710 interchange) which contained the bodies of two deceased persons. [CHP details below as downloaded in real time last night by LBReport.com].

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Rico Fernandez states in a release that LBPD officers arrived to find the bodies of two male adults deceased from gunshot wounds inside a light colored SUV that was pulled over on the right shoulder of the freeway.

LBPD Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation, which is ongoing.

The shooting victims' identifies have not been released as of 2:30 a.m. pending notification of next of kin.

CHP indicated online that its first report came in at roughly 9:24 p.m. as a solo vehicle TC (traffic collision) involving a grey Honda Pilot. A minute later, it says LBPD arrived on scene, followed by multiple CHP units starting at 9:35 p.m. extending into 10 o' clock hour.

For several hours, all northbound lanes of the nortbound 405 freeway were closed between Atlantic Ave. and the 710 freeway. At 10:29 p.m., LBPD issued a Nixle email/text advisory (reiterated at 10:53 p.m. with suggested detours) advising that all northbound 405 freeway lanes were closed at Atlantic Ave. for police activity and strongly encouraged motorists to avoid the area "for the next several hours."

LBPD asks anyone who may have information about this crime to contact Mark McGuire or Mark Bigel at (562) 570-7244.
