| (May 21, 2012, updated text May 22) -- At midmorning Monday (May 21), That sparked additional responses. Another reader she saw a "very big coyotes" on Saturday (May 19) near Clark Ave./Stearns St. Another reader said a pair has been spotted at Recreation Park. And yet another reader said he saw a coyote a few weeks ago in the area of Woodruff Ave./Monlaco Rd. LBReport.com can attest to seeing a coyote in March at about dusk in the area of Monlaco Rd./San Anseline Ave. Coyotes certainly aren't strangers to Long Beach and especially the ELB area; they've been here for a longer than people...and the ELB street name "Los Coyotes Diagonal" bears witness to their presence when developers turned the former bean-fields into postwar tract houses. On May 15, Gazettes.com Ashleigh Oldland reported that a coyote in the Naples area had killed two cats, and on May 20 PressTelegram.com's Joe Segura reported that coyotes had killed five pets since May 9 in the Naples area (includes one near Mother's Beach)...and said LB Animal Care Services had 11 reports of coyote killings since April 1. LB's Dept. of Animal Care Services asks residents to report coyote sitings on this link: click here.
