|
(May 13, 2013) -- As first reported by LBREPORT.com at 3:20 a.m. today (Mon. May 13) with updates on our front page (www.LBREPORT.com) as the situation developed, an ammonia leak at a cold storage plant in the area of Anaheim St./Magnolia-Daisy Ave. prompted police and firefighters to close a number of streets in the area (basically from 11th to 15th Streets a bit east of and west of Magnolia) past daybreak.
There were no evacuations...but the incident had police and firefighters occupied for several hours. The eastbound offramps from the northbound and southbound 710 freeway were also closed. The situation was finally cleared shortly before 8:00 a.m. To our knowledge, there were no injuries reported. Residents of the area experienced an ammonia leak in February 2013 (see LBREPORT.com coverage here); there's no immediate word on exactly what happened this time.
