(May 30, 2016, 7:50 p.m.) -- Now, it's murder. A man wounded in a May 15 late-afternoon shooting in the area of Orange Ave./61st St. has died of his wounds. It was the first of two shootings within a ten day period in nearly the same location.

LBPD says in a release that it learned on May 25 that Victor Eugene Alford, 37, of Wilmington, had died from injuries received in a May 15, 2016 shooting to which LBPD responded at roughly 5:51 p.m. in the area of 61st St./Orange.

Ten days after Mr. Alford was shot, and on the same day he succumbed to his wounds, a second shooting occurred in the same area, leaving a man wounded from a midnight hour drive by shooting.
