(May 4, 2017, 6:35 a.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has learned that at midafternoon yesterday (Weds. May 3) a man armed with a gun confronted an ELB woman at her home in the Conant area neighborhood between Bellflower Blvd. and San Anseline Ave., stole her car and drove off. The suspect, a white male in his mid-20s, is now in custody following a swift response to the robbery by LBPD, which alerted area law enforcement to the stolen vehicle. The suspect was then involved in a traffic accident in Westminster where he was detained, arrested...and is now in custody. [Scroll down for further.] |
In initial information, LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Ty Burford tells LBREPORT.com that at about 2 p.m. on May 3, officers were dispatched to the 5500 block E. Conant St. where a woman was robbed at gunpoint at her residence. The loss was her vehicle, and later in the day, CHP said the suspect was detained following a traffic accident in Westminster. He was detained by CHP and arrested; he's now in custody and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.
The victim wasn't physically injured; there's no immediate word on her car's condition.
