(May 5, 2017, 7:50 p.m.) -- The D.A.'s office has filed a number of felony charges, and LBPD has released details, of what they say took place on May 3 when an armed man allegedly entered an ELB Conant area home occupied by two female residents between 65 and 90 years of age.

In a release, LBPD says that at about 2 p.m. on May 3, an armed man allegedly entered the residence in the 5000 block of Conant St., the two residents heard their dog barking, went to determine why the dog was barking...and found a man (adult) armed with a handgun inside their home.

The armed man allegedly demanded the keys to their vehicle, grabbed the keys and fled in their 2003 Volkswagen. About four hours later, the suspect was involved in a traffic collision in Westminster (southbound on the 405 freeway at the Bolsa Chica offramp.) CHP detained the driver, Ian Kilbourne Chambers, age 24 [no city of residence given], who allegedly matched the robbery suspect description...and LBPD arrived and transported him for booking.

LBPD says that on further investigation, detectives located evidence inside the stolen vehicle allegedly related to the residential robbery.

On May 5, LBPD presented the case to the L.A. County District Attorney's office, which has filed two counts of robbery, one count of residential burglary, and one count of vehicle theft against Chambers.

The two victims weren't physically harmed in the frightening crime; there's no word on the condition of their vehicle.
