(May 2, 2018) -- Two midafternoon armed robberies within twenty minutes -- that LBPD says may be related -- hit neighborhood businesses in the area of 10th St./Alamitos Ave. and the 2200 block of Magnolia Ave. on Wednesday May 2.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brad Johnson tells LBREPORT.com:

  • On May 2 at about 1:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of E. 10th St. regarding an armed robbery to a business. Arriving officers determined that an armed robbery had occurred and involved 3 men (adult) suspects in their late teens to early 20s. The business lost cash from its register. Two of the suspects were described as African-American, one was described as Hispanic.

  • On May 2 at about 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a second armed robbery to a business in the 2200 block of Magnolia Ave. Officers again found that an armed robbery had occurred. The business lost cash from its register. The suspect descriptions are similar to those in the E. 10th St. robbery.

LBPD's investigations are ongoing.
