UPDATE: Feds Arrest El Dorado Park South Resident After Serving Search Warrant Re Aliso Viejo Fatal Explosion, But He's Not Charged In Connection With That Crime But On Allegations Of Possession Of Unregistered Destructive Device

(May 17, 2018, 9:55 a.m.) -- Following-up on a story reported yesterday (May 16) by LBREPORT.com as breaking on our front page, LBREPORT.com has learned that an El Dorado Park South resident has been taken into federal custody after federal investigators found what they allege was a "destructive device" during service of a search warrant in connection with their investigation into a May 15 explosion at an Aliso Viejo day spa that killed a woman and injured three persons...but in actions today isn't being charged in connection with the explosion.

In a release issued shortly after dawn May 17, FBI, OCSD, ATF and the US Attorney's office state:

During the course of the investigation into the May 15 explosion in Aliso Viejo, investigtors found a destructive device during the service of a search warrrant at a Long Beach residence. The resident, Stephen Beal, 59, of Long Beach, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an unregistered destructive device. Mr. Beal is not being charged in connection with the explosion...No other deatails will be made available until Mr. Beal is officially charged in a criminal complaint later today, at which time officials will provide additional details.

As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, neighbors said FBI, ATF, OC County Sheriffs converged on this residence at the NE corner of Volk Ave./El Paseo St. on May 15-16, where LBREPORT.com US EPA ("Emergency Response Team") on scene on May 16.
